MUCH better in Pencils than with colors. Don't wanna talk down the efforts of the colorist (he put some real work into it). But the entire page reads much better in black and white, and in pencils. With full inks the blacks mash the outlines with the dark shaded areas. In pencil they still stick out, making the grasping of the shapes much easier AND showing us the real work of the penciller much better. Brilliant page.
Also in sense of focus. The colorist put rendering where Robert left it out, now with rendering (putting backgrounds into panel 3, or leaves into the trees) the panels feel cluttered. Again, don't wanna diss the colorist. But I know what I like better. IDW should publish a pencil version of rAtkins art! And now I shut up fianally. Again thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the comments. It is interesting to see the end product of "assembly line" art. Some times colors will save a page and sometimes detract for their clarity or intent. Bottom line we work together to make the best book we can.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment on it though, espcially coming from someone so accomplished themself.
