Snake Eyes 9 Cover by RobertAtkins Snake Eyes 9 Cover by RobertAtkins
My cover to Snake Eyes #9. The other two covers were more movie poster-like. I didnt want to do just another "Hero" shot of the character. So I took a scene from the book and did my best.

These bipedal mechs that SE is going after were released as GI JOE Sigma Six toys originally and later repainted and redesigned as Cobra vehicles. This all done atleast a year or two before the movie Avatar came out, but everyone seems bent on saying this is the SE Avatar/Robocop cover.

It hurts my brain.

Awesome. What program do you use to do the ink work? Or is it all done by hand?

Its all done by hand. Mostly ink and brush with rapid-o-graph pens for the technical work, straight edges and curves.

I'm support the idea of having the cover represent what happens in the book. I love the occasional pinup-type cover, but most -times I want the cover to draw me in with a hint of the story.
As always, Robert, great stuff!

It was a fun change of pace. I love drawing robotic stuff but rarely get to.

That's a shame you have a flair for it. Who know one day you might get shot at a Transformers book (if you have not already), kind regards.

I did have a choice between the Transformers main title or Snake Eyes, I just couldnt pass up SE. It would've made for an interesting change of pace.
