Magneto finishes up my X-Villains week. But I continue on through Sept. with more X-Men on the blog. You can see a version of this drawing with no shadow over Magneto's eyes. I was interested in how that changed, showing his eyes or not. You can check it out here.

Not a huge deal, but just curious for which I am going to get colored by Simon.

Speed ball black india ink set out with the lid off for a day, will thicken even more and will give you that glossy, BLACK. Very black. But it is thick and not practical for other inking, like line work. When Im inking with a brush I have my bottle of ink for filling in blacks and another bottle of Speedball mixed with Higgins black magic.

That's neat what difference something like the shadow over the eyes makes. It adds kind of a mysterious quality to Magneto. Almost makes you wonder what exactly he's up to. -As opposed to the non shaded eyes where you know he's up to no good.

I can always remember that the original comics drawn by people like Jack Kirby, Don Heck and John Buscema almost always had Magneto's eyes staring out from the shadows with a look of madness in them.  The shadows always accented the man's menace.  It wasn't until you saw him without the helmet for the first time (during the Savage Land arc that was part of Neal Adam's run on the original title in the late 1960s) that you got to get a glimpse of Magneto the man.

I like this version better. Magneto looks more like he's supposed to with his eyes hidden, imo.

awesome work, well done :)
